Informatics is the science of information processing. However, in behavioral healthcare and related sectors including social services, juvenile justice, and criminal justice, there is often little science and even less technology used as a leveraging tool for processing information. The detriment resides in the absence of knowledge driven facts on hand to make decisions and exercise judgment that is having a direct impact on people’s lives. So what are the leaders in their respective agencies to do? Most do nothing, seemingly due to the myth that technology upgrades are expensive and out of reach of many mid-size organizations.
In comes the Wiki, a browser-based, user friendly, information-mining tool that can be implemented in an hour’s time in any organization. Did I mention it is HIPPA compliant and meets military level security standards?
A Wiki solution is important for two reasons: Economics and Services.
